KEY ~ Feed Your Body and Soul

I’m just back from our beach vacation and feeling a bit under the weather because I also took a vacation from some of my good eating habits. Eating was great fun and I enjoyed every bite, but I don’t want to keep feeling this way.

So, as I’m writing this, there is a pot of my favorite homemade soup simmering on the stove. It’s over 100 degrees outside but I had to make hot soup right now because I feel the need to do some crowding out. It’s one of the ways that I bring myself back in balance and feel better.

What do I mean when I say crowding out? It is replacing something that you’ve decided isn’t in your best interest with something that is. It is a great way to get back on track!

Here are some examples. Replacing:
~ a processed food with a whole food
~ sitting on the couch with taking a walk
~ not having anything available for a quick snack with planning ahead
~ watching TV with reading a book you’ve been wanting to read
~ going all day without taking a break with putting your feet up and relaxing a bit

For me, having my favorite soup on hand makes it easier for me to eat something delicious and nutritious rather than eat mindlessly.

Crowding out is something you can use in any area of your life so it’s time to make a plan!

To get started:
~ make a commitment to yourself that you will try this
~ have fun!
~ pick one area of your life that you want to focus on;
food, exercise, relationships or something else
~ decide 3 ways you will practice crowding out this week
~ write these down and post them someplace you will see them often
~ keep your commitment to yourself
