KEY ~ Feed Your Body
“One of these nuts is a meal for a man, both meat and drink” Marco Polo

So why would you want to add coconut oil to your diet? It is a healthy fat source, tastes delicious and can be used in many ways.

It is mostly saturated fat (92% ) with a small percentage of mono-unsaturated and poly-unsaturated fats. “Coconut oil has fewer calories than any other fat source. Unlike high-calorie, cholesterol-soaked, long-chain, saturated animal fats found in meat and dairy products, coconut cream and coconut oil are made of raw saturated fats containing mostly medium-chain fatty acids that the body can metabolize efficiently and convert to energy quickly.” (Wolfe, 2009)

Coconut oil is useful for bone and dental health because it improves calcium and magnesium absorption. It is especially beneficial to women who are at the age to develop osteoporosis. For what others are saying about this oil, take a look here!

Coconut oil also helps in regulating your blood sugar and losing weight. Here’s a funny story about coconut oil from the 1940′s. Coconut oil was used by some farmers to help fatten up their cows. But instead of fattening them up, the cows actually became leaner! Needless to say, the farmers quit feeding their cows coconut oil.

There is also the rest of the coconut to consider eating which have great benefits as well. There’s the milk, water, meat and butter too! We’ll take a look at these another time ;-) ) For right now, enjoy adding this great, healthy fat into day!

Here’s a link with additional information about how to use and store coconut oil.
